Social Media Sabbatical

So, I’m not entirely sure how I decided that I needed a Social Media Sabbatical, like, right this very minute, but I just asked my good friend Melani to change the passwords on my Facebook & Twitter accounts and had her promise not to tell me what they are, no matter how much I might beg and plead until next year. January. 1st. 2012. Whaaaaaa?  How am I going to do this?  I think I might be cheating already.  Because I’m writing this before I’ve actually given Melani the current passwords to these accounts.  Because….. you know……  I need to leave these...

What the World Needs Now

Is more ukulele. My birthday was last week and my friend Glenn was visiting from California.  We were sitting in my kitchen and he said, “It’s your birthday, you should watch this video of Bohemian Rhapsody on the ukulele.”  So we did. And it was awesome. I had to share it with you. Jake says in his introduction “What the World Needs Now is More Ukulele” and I completely agree.  Glenn & his wife took ukulele lessons when they were in Hawaii and said it was so fun. So, watch this and notice how much feeling he puts into the notes.  He really wins the crowd...

Can You Write a Screenplay in 22 Days?

ski lift

me skiing at Sundance Film Festival 2011 *I wrote this screenwriting blog series about 6 months ago–it took me this long to get the BALLS to post it.* I should start by telling you how I fantasized about writing a screenplay for more than ten years.  Then, about three or four years ago, I actually began saying, out loud, that I wanted to write a screenplay.  As in, out loud to other people. But only in a joking way. Like, “One day I’m going to write a screenplay... Read More

It Ain’t About the Money ~ or is it?

EdwardBurns

My daughter & I were singing in the car the other day (and dancing at the red lights) when this Jesse J. song came on. Price Tag. Have you heard it yet? (I posted the video & lyrics below for you)  The first few lines of her song have been haunting me. “Seems like everybody’s got a price, I wonder how they sleep at night. When the sale comes first, And the truth comes second, Just stop, for a minute and Smile …… Why is everybody so serious Acting... Read More

Chocolate Cravings

choccupcakes

The last few days I’ve found myself dipping into the girls’ leftover Halloween candy.  I’m usually a salty snacker, give me a bag of chips any day over some sugary sweet dessert.  But when I need a chocolate fix that’s still relatively healthy, I’ve been turning to these fast easy cupcakes. They are the YUMMIEST [...]

Busy Picnic

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” – John Lennon Have you heard this line from the John Lennon song, “Beautiful Boy”? This pretty much describes my week. Tuesday morning, 8:10am I’m sitting in my big comfy bed, with a steaming cup of café mocha, kissing my husband goodbye as [...]
